King Tut Burial Mask

For this project the model was loaded into proprietary medical imaging software and viewed in realtime. The material and lighting all had to be baked into one texture map. I used Modo to light, texture, and bake several angles of the mask to get best lighting viewed at all angles.
It was featured on a PBS documentary "Secrets of the Dead" about King Tut.

A short promo for the episode briefly showing the model.

This clip shows the Anatomage Table, which was my main project at Anatomage. This clip shows the user interface icons, which I designed. Getting to view the King Tut CT scan in person was very cool!

This clip shows the head model I made to match the CT scan as viewed on the Anatomage Table.

The is the full Tut body wearing the burial mask. The challenge with this project was in creating the skin model that would fit exactly over the CT scan. Since the mummy is decayed, the hands are intersecting with the legs, so it looks a little weird.

The mask texture was baked with Modo, since the Anatomage table can only accept a single color map for textures.
